PRESS RELEASE – NOV 23, 2023

By investing in an electric cargo bike from Cargobike of Sweden, Uppåkra Parish takes a step towards reducing its carbon emissions and contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. This initiative is part of the parish's broader environmental efforts – "Climate Roadmap" – aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting a greener planet.

The initiative to invest in a cargo bike from Cargobike of Sweden is based on a commitment to provide staff with simple and environmentally friendly options for travel within the parish's area.

– We want to enable our staff to travel between different locations such as churches, schools, and shopping places without needing to use a car. By reducing the use of cars for work purposes, we can also decrease harmful carbon dioxide emissions," explains Tanja Kamensky, Vicar of Uppåkra Parish.

Uppåkra Parish also encourages other organizations and companies to follow their example and consider implementing environmentally friendly transportation options in their operations. By working together, we can all contribute to creating a more sustainable and healthy environment for current and future generations.

Uppåkra Parish is a parish in the Torna and Bara deanery within the Diocese of Lund. The parish is located in Staffanstorp Municipality in Skåne County and constitutes its own pastorate. In line with the Church of Sweden's climate roadmap, Uppåkra Parish aims to reduce its own climate impact and actively participate in global efforts to mitigate the consequences of climate change. The goal is to achieve climate neutrality for its operations by the year 2030.
